X pipe or H pipe?

I am looking at having a true dual exhaust made for my truck in the near future. I want to run it through an x pipe or H pipe to equalize backpressure but Im unsure of the difference if there is any between the two sound and performance wise. Anyone?

I've heard that X-pipe creates more torque, but H-pipe sounds better... I personally like the X[pipe as i have on on my truck. I think i have heard somewhere that nascar uses X-pipes in their cars or something like that. But as long as the backpressure is balanced it's going to help retain, and in most cases add low-end torque.

good luck on your decision

Kurt

Definitely X pipe. Car Craft did a comparo on the X vs. H, and the X made more torque and HP.

I dont think there is enough room under your truck to run a full h-pipe were as if you are runnig true duels they will be run side by side and the mufflers will be welded together. so an x-pipe I think would be your best bet. But just my $.02

They are both means of scavenging exhaust gases out of the cylinders...the x is more efficient due to it having less loss in turns connecting the two pipes together...

Ive had a shop tell me that they could fab me an h pipe, granted the two pipes would be close to one another so the H would only be about 6" long. Looks like most people here have an x pipe though. How are they on sound (ie. crackling and whatnot)? Its been mentioned that the H pipe sounds better but that can be subjective.
