Thumbs up Flowmaster in stock location

Well, I cheaped out and went the simple route. I bought a 40 series flowmaster muffler and had it put in the stock location. This gives me the sound I want and the price I want. $85.00 installed. Took ol' Earl about thirty minutes from the time I drove on the lift. Truck sounds great. I'm happy and the truck is happy. Here's the link to my gallery of the muffler on the truck. I painted it black for that stealthy look. https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?num=12712

Thats a nice install, I'll be doing that on Monday or Tuesday hopefully

What specific 40 is it? Origional? or Delta flow, since Super 40 is already black I guess thats not a canidite, and wont the muffler just melt that paint off?

Thumbs up

I'm not sure about which type 40. I told Earl I wanted a 40 series FM, and that's what He installed. I believe it is a Delta Flow, though. From the side you could see the muffler too much, as it was just under the frame rail, so that's why I painted it black, so it would blend in with the frame. I painted the muffler while it was warm, and then I cranked up the truck to bake it on. As it got hot, I continued to add layers to the muffler. I used the whole can. I've gone all weekend with it, and it hasn't flaked yet. If it does, I'll just spray her down again!

I did the samething basically with the F-150 my fiance wrecked. I bought a Flowmaster Original 40 Series muffler from ebay for just under $50. Took it to the best local shop and had it installed with duals run out the back at the corners of the bumper. Threw on some tips and ended up paying under $200 for the whole deal.

I don't see how this is any differnt then a $500-700 setup. Basically it ended up being a 2.5" pipe back to the flowmaster, then duals off the muffler with 2.5" pipe to the tips. Great sound, and a huge improvement over stock.

As a matter of fact I ordered another Flowmaster Original 40 Series muffler from ebay Saturday. As soon as it gets here I'll take my new truck back to the same shop and have it installed exactly like the previous truck.

You said it. The only difference is the price.
