Of course, most of you know that I installed my 16614 last night. I need to do a little tweaking with the adjustmens and was wondering if I need to disconnect the battery again like I did in the intial install? I think the logic behind those instructions was so the computer would recognize the new system. Does this apply here?

Cool, thanks. I'm also pondering on whether I should stand the muffler str8 up vs. flat and if that will help me on my alignment issues.

 

WHAT? Man your exhaust alignment must be WAY off if that's what it would take to align it up better. I don't even think you CAN run it "str8 up".

I ran my muffler "flat" on my 16614 and it lined up perfectly. The only problem I had with aligning the exhaust properly had to do with the rear bolt-on hangers Magnaflow supplied. I couldn't bolt them flush with the frame rails. I had to cut & grind off about 1/4 inch of the peg where it was welded to the plate. Then they could be bolted flush against the frame rails without bending and it aligned up perfectly! Good Luck!

 

HEY, MAGNAFLOW! CAN YOU SEE A REOCCURING PROBLEM HERE? DUH? I think there are MORE posts on this forum with issues on the 16614 install, than not. And they say it's NOT a problem. Hmmmm. I wonder if the president of Magnaflow ever browses these forums. Maybe we should all get together and form a suit against them. Oh, wait... we are the customer... let's blame the customer for the install. It certainly couldn't be the exhaust... at least, not from MAGNAFLOW.

 

Form a lawsuit? what the hell man! It says professional install recommended cause obviosuly they have more things that could custom fit it all on the truck. Just enjoy your exhaust and don't worry about what the hangers look like underneath.

 

Ya know... well... it's not really worth wasting my breath because you aren't really seeing the problem here. So, lawsuit was strong, but the fact that they wouldn't even retun a call is absolutely rediculous. It has nothing with the way the hangers look. It's about the way the system fits, and how Magnaflaw responded - and DIDN'T RESPOND. I'm not picking pepper outta fly dung, but for them to to tell me their !@@#$ hangers are my fault is a$$inine. The tips are four inches off from each other side to side, and because of the nature of the pipes, the only way to get them to align better is to drop one side down about two to three inches below the other pipe, which still leaves them two inches different when compared to the other from centerline of the truck. Then, each tailpipe is still over two and a half inches below the bottom of the rear bumper creating a snowbank "back-into" hazard. If two inches isn't much to you, take a look at one exhaust tip in relation to the step pad on your bumper, and imagine the other off. It stands out and looks like crap. Imagine that pretty little bull bar on the front of your rig being off center two inches, and tell me that would be okay. Yeah, I didn't think you'd like it. This is no different when it comes to the cosmetics. The "professional installation" is a CYA (Cover your a$$) just like the hitch disclaimer they tried on me. Instead of wasting ink on the "professional installation" stuff, they should have written "WARNING - Welder, extra brackets, bolts, nuts, sawzall, and smoke wrench may be needed to make this fit some vehicles". The End. I'm done.

 

Just to start out let me apologize to everyone in here. This system was test fitted on a truck with the same exact set up. We use a dealership locally here next to our warehouse. Its really possible that there was some sort of mid year change. It happens all the time. But to sit here a bash Magnaflow isnt fair. I think we make an AWESOME Product. Some of our systems do require PROFESSIONAL installation. But the system can be returned for a full refund. Due to Fitiment Issues. We always give that option.
