Dual out the sides or back

So I think i'm going Magnaflow exhaust, just have to ask people's preference, and if there is any reason/difference in performance
-Dual exhaust: out the sides behind the tires or out the back?

Thumbs up

I personally like the look of them coming out the back but if you haul anything on a regular basis you may want to go out the sides so I have been told, suposedly the sound reflects off the item being towed and can be annoying if you hual any livestock like horses or other things like that you definetly want to go out the sides.

My new Magnaflow duals out-the-back(16614) just arrived today. I'm going to install them at the shop tomorrow. I wanted duals out-the-side, but Magnaflow's come out the passenger side, and I wanted one coming out both sides behind BOTH tires. If I find I don't like them coming out the back within the next few weeks, I'll have new pipes bent to make them exit behind the tires.

I had mine exit with an angle behind the tires. I liked the look of it better than straight out personally. It was a little different. I think on a 4x4 some angle or sides look good, if lowered or a 4x2 I like straight out the back. Just my preference. One thing to consider though is if you angle them or turn them out the sides behind the wheels, they will get considerably dirtier than if you go straight back. Hope that helps. Good luck. Post some pics when you decide. Here's my look:

I had mine straight out the back for a long time and I was very happy with it. I did change it and put them out the side with bigger tips and I like it even more now, I feel like I can hear it alittle bit better and with diffrent tips it's alittle louder. I do agree that when they are behind the tire they do collect alot of dirt from the tires.

They will reflect off of walls and cars louder towards you coming out the sides, but straight out the back looks better to me, I have yet to see tips angled down behind the tire that look even. I have had both setups and i preferred them going straight out, unless i was in a mood where i really wanted to hear that exhaust.

Yeah I ordered the whole magnaflow kit, straight out the back... It should look pretty sweet. If I dont' like how it turned out then i'll custom bend some more pipe... lol Will post pics soon as I install.

No offence, just my thoughts but i don't like the angle out from the corners.. just doesn't' seem to flow with the truck in my eyes.

edit: lol k so I took a second look and the more you check it out the more it grows on you... lol it actually looks nice.

I just had a local muffler shop put in a magnaflow with the dual-out both exiting behind the right rear tire. I really like the look, but there is a LOT of drone, especially around 2,000 RPM. That wouldn't really bother me much, except that cruising at highway speeds of ~70 MPH is right around 2,000 RPM, which makes for hours of listining to a constant hum on my constant road-trips.

Anyone else noticing this with a Magnaflow?

I have a drone right at 2k when everything is cold. Once it gets up to full operating temp it goes away.

i agree with russ. its all personal preference. i personally think that on a lifted truck or just 4x4 trucks the angle looks the best. tires kick up road dirt when it rains, you just have to make sure and stay on top of cleaning your pipes. i would definitely go stainless no matter what. i have a magnaflow sido out the sides if you care to take a look, just to get an idea. just click my gallery icon. hope that helps some
