I got a '03 F150 extended cab short box 5.4L 4x4 a bit back.
Christmass passed and I didn't get anything, so I am now looking at exhausts.
Two options so far, Flowmaster or Magnaflow. (cat back dual for both)
-I like the deep loud sound of magnaflow, however they only have exhaust comming straight out the back, not out the side behind the wheeles where I would like it.
-I drove a '01 F150 5.4L with Flowmaster cat back, I like the sound but it was quiet. I want to be heard, but not enough so I get ticketed a lot.
Thoughts, is it worth getting magnaflow and going straight out the rear, or go with flowmaster and be able to have it out the sides??
The truck has trailer hitch, and tow package, the works... will this cause any trouble? does anyone know..
ps also getting KN cold air intake and air raid throttle body spacer.
-other note, I live in the country, and it's a 4x4, not a street truck... lol I dont' want it to sound like a tuner, I want it to have a deep rumble...
-last note, i'm a apprenctice weder, buddy's got a mechanic's shop & lift, so i'd be doing all the install myself, anyone have troubles with either of the systems when installing?

sounds good, I'm in the country & mines a street truck, doesn't always work out lol. but anyways, theres been the issue with the pipes interfering with the spare tire under the bed & requiring that that be removed, though your local exhaust shop can always bent you custom pipes to avoid this situation.
Muffler wise, I'm a Flowmaster guy, so a si/do Super 40 would be the muffler I say you would most prefer, the one you test drove probably had a quieter 50 series muffler, 40 series is what you want. Although, the 40 series can give you some drone, if you do not want that in cab noise but want to still be heard nice & deep on the outside,go with Magnaflow.
There are also questions on Flowmaster robbing you from your torque, so if you plan putting that tow pkg to work, idk about the Flowmaster, Magnaflow is known to gain you power & atleast 1mpg. & yes, this comming from a Flowmaster guy
Also what you said about the exiting, like I said, go custom, If you buy the Magnaflow kit and it doesn't give you the side exit option, go to the exhaust shop, have them bend them, give them the straight exit pipes as a trade. They will take the stainless steel piping no problem lol.
