dump question????

ive had a flowmaster muffler with a chrome tip for about a year now. and i can never get the tip to stay clean. so i want to go ahead and just dump the pipes. i was wondering if i just cut them off right after the muffler would i need to put something else on to angle it down. like to the exhaust come out of the muffler and goes down.? sorry if the ? is a little confusing.

My F250s tips are painted black, exept for dirt, very easy to keep clean, I couldn't tell they had tar on them when I got it haha.

This may sound a little stupid...but...Is the sound of the exhaust going to be any louder if the pipe is not turned down? Are there any disadvantages of not turning it down and just letting the exhaust go strait out of the pipe and towards the back axel?

dumps are just silly and can't be use if you have a topper..and cabin noise will increase.....

i had no turn downs, exhaust just coming out of the mufflers, it was very very loud, a whole lot of drone in the cab, put turn downs on and it made it 50% quieter! Its still loud outside, but it cut down on incab noise a lot

Built54, thanks, thats what I was wanting to know. Mine is too quiet sometimes and I might take the turn down off to get some more sound.

ahh I thought you would lose power if you just had like 4"s of piping sticking out the back of the muffler not turned down. I might just saw out my stock tip & pop a turn down tip just to get rid of the ugly stock tip.

Back in spring '06 my tip broke off from the muffler and the exhaust was just comming right out of the muffler itself not being directed out my any piping, and it sounded quite nice like a 50 series almost, but I noticed a slight loss of power though.
