What advantage to a si/do exh.ystem?

Just purchased an F-250 SD with a 5.4 V8. I am looking to replace the stock muffler with either a Flowmaster or Maganflow muffler. All I am looking for is a little more sound. Not really interested in the dual out the back look. Are there any performance issues I will be missing by not going for the dual out the back set-up. Any information or feedback will be appreciated.

you wont be missing any power etc.. you will still have the stock manifolds and y -pipe right?? if you want any real performance gains gonna have to throw some headers on there. a flowmaster should at least give you the sound you are looking for.

SISO vs. SIDO is all about looks and sound. If you don't want the dual rear exit set-up then stick with the SISO side rear exit. Some say that the tone is better with the SISO cause all the sound is coming out one pipe. I might be going that route myself with the Magnaflow muffler. Haven't decided yet.

Thanks for the advice. I most likely will go the so/so route. Either Flowmaster or magna. Kind of leaning towards the maganflow after searching some previous posts. Thanks again.
