Huttos F-150, What cab configuration and bed length do you have?

I have recently installed the Banks Monster on my truck and it drones like a big dawg at cruise I have also read where a few others reported on this issue and I am trying to find out if the problem is specific to a certain length system. I have a 4.6L regular cab with 6.5' bed. I am hoping to find a fix for this problem or I may have to take it off, others who have rode with me agree that it is quite annoying at 1800-2000 rpm. Anybody else with this problem or a fix please chime in.

Magnaflow installs

The one negative I've heard about the MF exhaust is that it runs tight to the spare. Most ppl who've posted to other sites have said things to the effect of it takes a lot of minor adjusting to get the MF to not touch the spare, and even then it sits very close.

As far as I know about the Banks products, their website doesn't get very specific about bodystyle/bed length, or even differentiating between the 4.6 and 5.4L V8's. All of which makes me very nervous about ordering from them. Add to that the comment about them saying that the same exhaust kit will fit both 5.5 and 6.5' beds, and I think I'd take them out of the running. But that's just my opinion.

I also was verry leary at first about the Magna Flow, but after reading about everyone who did it on here I went with the 16612. I had zero problems with the spare tire clearance. I think the reason it fits both bed configurations is that all ford did was make the pipe from the cat to the muffler longer on the 6.5. After that the system is the same. Hanger location ect. Believe me it fits like a glove.

Talk to socal motorsports about the banks exhaust if you are interested. They asked me my bed size when I ordered mine, so I'm sure it makes a difference. The exhaust was a piece of cake to install, looks and sounds great!

Banks is definitly a quality product. I love mine. No experience with the MF exhaust so my opinion is a little biased. If you order the banks you will not be dissappointed!

Is it true that the Banks systems are made in Taiwan or China?
I buy plenty of stuff made in Asia. However, for an exhaust on my FORD, all else being equal I'd rather buy American made.

What year and body style is your F150. I had a major problem installing my Magnaflow on my 2001 SuperCrew.

Cool Bank's exhaust

Dadwillis,

I have had a Banks kit on my truck for about 6 months and love it . The sound is aggressive especially when you mash the go-pedal. If you are concerned about the in-cab noise go with the kit with daul pipes exiting the rear. I have the kit that exits in the stock location and @ 65-70 you do hear the exhaust. Both exhaust systems mentioned are great, I am still hooked on Banks from my previous Ford diesels(4).
