Stock muffler length / what to get as a replacement?

I just traded up from a 4.6 with a custom true dual 40 Delta Flows to a 5.4 FX2 with a nice tip. I just want to just switch my muffler to keep the tip and stock look. I know that the 5.4 already has more of an agressive sound purely based on displacement, so a muffler only switch should be just fine. I liked the 40series, but have read that others like magnaflow, etc may have more CFMs or a better sound. I don't want the cab to be super noisy, yet I want a deep "truck-sounding exhaust" even at a stand still. The 40s were not even audible until you hit the gas, then it was NICE! However, the one to fit is over $100 and I am trying to stay lower than that.

My questions are:

What is the stock 2007 5.4l muffler in-out dimestions?

What is the length of the stock muffler itself?

What is the best replacement muffler to get (Banks, Magna, Dynaflow, etc)?

2.5" in/out

Stock length.. Crap i dunno way toooo long.. something like 40"

If you dont think your 40s were to loud then defentally have a 40 weled in place of your stock muffler..

I was going to suggest a magnaflow, but it seems like that would be to quite for you.

You could do an 18" Muffler 5 x 8 x 18 That WILL GIVE IT A DEEP THROATY TONE.

Here's the link

why would you want to keep the stock look? i think it would look pretty sweet if you had some pipes coming out the side before the tire on your truck. i forget what it's called though.

yeah you could put in a 40 series in the stock mufflers place, and get a little more of 2.5" piping to weld and run it with the stock tip.

Does anyone have a sound clip of this setup (flow 40 series replacement). I plan on just adding a muffler but I want to hear some clips of this setup first. Ive heard the one son flowmaster's website.

That's the route I took....After going with a 5x8x24", stepped up to the 18" si/do and WOW.
