cold air kit????? is it worth it?

I have a 2000 Lightning engine i am about to drop in...I am going to put and underdrive pully on, headers, high flow exhaust, and eventually power tune it.
Is it really worth the money to put an open air intake(i.e. K&N...airraid) system on it???? Or would it be just about even to go ahead and just put a K&N filter in the factory box??? The open air systems with the open bracket box are about $200 on ebay.....has anyone seen any cheaper?? THX!

the power gains with low restriction intakes are well worth it on NA engines i would image it would be worth more on supercharged engines. Plus, it should make it louder and give you more of that trademark blower whine. As for the underdrive pulleys you actually want over drive pulleys to increase the boost from the supercahrger. Underdrive pulleys actually reduce the boost with the stock pulley on the blower.

oh yeah, check out troyer performance for parts they have a butt load of stuff at fair prices, not cheap, but not overly expensive.http://www.troyerperformance.com

Yes it is worth it. I put a K&N 77 Series CAI on my truck and noticed a big difference. And so far, after about 15,000 miles, I havn't thrown a CEL yet!
Got mine shipped for about $285 from http://www.truckperformance.com.

i know what cel is but normaly the reason that it will come on after installing a cold air intake is because they will cause the engine to run lean on the 5.4's and throw a code unless or untill the computer is reset by disconecting power from battery for a period of time

When I installed my kit, I NEVER disconnected the battery.
