muffler

I did a search but didn't really find what I was looking for. Basically, I was wanting to just get a basic muffler with a turn down on it, but I have the 4.6 liter and wanted it to sound like more than that, if at all possible? I think that the flowmaster 40 would give me the sound I want, but also know that it has a bad drone, so I was looking at the Super 40, and it has the delta flow which is supposed to tone it down a bit unless you step on it?

Also, I heard that magnaflows dont have the highway drone, but I know nothing about them, as far as what each series offers. I was reading and it seems like everyone just loves the 14258. Will that fit on an 02? I'm leaning more towards it.

Regardless, if I'm just going to put a turn down on it, I need to know which size i/o I need to keep it simple and make it fit right. thanks guys.

sure it will fit, and a 6" - 9" turn down tip will do it good.

I'm a Flowmaster guy myself I love the sound.

thanks. where's the cheapest place online to get the flowmaster or magnaflow, and what's the deal with the coupons I see around here? how do I use those? I hate being a newbie. I'm a car audio guy. have 8000+ posts on car audio forum. I feel like an annoyance here hehe.

i have a 4.6L and put a flowmaster 40 series on single in dual out for 120 installed. it wasnt loud enough for me so the shop bought back the muffler for half and put true dual exhaust on with no muffler. if you want it really really loud then i would recommend it, but if you just want it semi loud, just put a flowmaster 40 on. i didnt hear any drone when i had mine on, but i dont know if were thinking about the same drone.

well I do want it to be legal, cause I really dont have time (full time student/barista) to be runnin around getting things swapped out all the time.

I had flowmaster on my 3.0 v6 ranger, and it had a bad drone. My girlfriend has flowmasters on her 5.3 v8 silverado and they drone real bad. just gets old after a while. honestly, I almost prefer the stock exhaust over the flows cause of the drone. no fun after a couple of hours of freeway time....

ebay would be the cheapest for just mufflers, can run $40 - $80 for a brand new muffler.

The Flowmaster's are going to drone. That's why I have a Magnaflow. Great sound, better than the Flow. It's not as loud, but it sounds better.
