What do you guys think would be the best exhaust for a 4.2L?? I want to go with flowmasters but im not sure how they would sound. I know I'll never get it to sound like a 5.7L chevy with flows but I want to come as close as possible.

Straight pipe the baby. It will save you gas milage too because if you stomp on it, beware it sounds like a beehive on steroids. But, low rpms sounds real nice. I had the flowmaster on before and it was too high pitched for me. Id at least say the straights sound better than the flowmasters at all rpms.

 

texas do you have a 4.2? i just recently bought a 4.2, if I were to go straight wouldnt that cause me to fail inspection?

 

Depends where you go. It really isnt that loud so im not sure people would accuse you of having no muffler. Im thinking about dualing mine out so... this is the best exhause I have heard on the 4.2 so far. Im thinking about getting a magnaflow dual out down the road but this sounds nice for now. The best sounding V6's I have heard all had Magnaflow mufflers. The straight pipes are crappy sounding. The Flows also sound like crap.
