You can gain power, but you also risk losing low end torque. I put a cut out on my 98 Z28, and noticed the timeslip improvements at the track, but also noticed a small loss in the bottom.

I wouldn't say that. You can't really compare the results of a 3400lb car to those of a 5000lb truck with less power (assuming you don't have a list of performance mods). Our trucks rely on that torque to go, so I can't necissarily see the same results. Personally I'd want to keep my torque.

cut outs are just for that race car sound, they dont really gain power, and as been stated could lose your power.

The Electric cut outs are a waste of money I had one on my 04 FX4 the cool factor was nice but after a few hundred miles it would start to leak and just sound like *** unless it was open and a loss of low-end TQ sucked as well ..... just my .02

i just ordered a cutout from quicktime for my truck its a 2000 f150 2 wheel drive with the 4.6 then a buddy of mine shows a mag of mods done to a truck with the 5.4 and they lost power when they put on a high flow exhaust and intake. the computer showed the engine running lean and they adjusted it with the programmer they were using and said that it opened it up a little more. I just hope the thing isn't a total waste of money. i plan to get a tuner so maybe it will help it.
