Real skinny on exhaust?

Does getting a flowmaster or similar exhaust really help with MPG and Power or is it just the sound?

Thanks for any advice.

Most probably don't produce more power, minimal if any, that is if you just do what most do and run a SIDO muffler. They do sound good though, flowmaster sounds real good but they do restrict some of the air flow, I don't know if it takes away much in the performance of the motor or not. There's lots of opinions on that. Magnaflow has better flow than flowmaster but the sound isn't quite as aggresive. I would say go with what sounds better to you, not going to be that much gain either way you go.

you can get a turbo muffler like the dynomax bullet SISO that sounds good, and has 100% flow. Its basically just a expanded pipe with fiberglass in it, but it sounds nothing like the "traditional glass packs"

And yes the dynomax bullet does have dyno hp + tq gains especially on low end torque

I'm ordering my Dynomax Bullet this week, $36 from summit. I've removed the silencer from the intake and I've got a drop-in K & N, so it should sound pretty good and if I gain some power thats a bonus
