Help...Installing a muffler for 1995 F150...

I have a '95 F150 v6 4.9 with no muffler. I just bought the truck to be used for hunting and knocking around. Do I need a muffler or can I just put a pipe on it and be done with it? How difficult is it to install a muffler? Is it something I can do myself? I'm not afraid to take on new challenges.

should be basic welding, and possibly fabing up a hanger for it out of steel rod. If its just a farm truck, and doesnt need inspection no you dont need a muffler.

Well if your on emissions you definatly need a Muffler, and I would suggest a Flowmaster muffler, and yep what patman said, if you wanna run no muffler then yeah you could get a hanger, and run a tip out to the back, or side.

sorry had to do it darren, but the muffler doesnt actually help with emissions, its just sound. Think of the name, muffler, it muffles the sound.... Anyways i think darren was trying to say that some states check with the inspection to make sure you have a properly functioning muffler.

Thanks for the help...

I installed a flexible pipe this evening and it seems like it will do fine. The catalytic convertor still functions (I guess) and the truck is not too loud without the muffler. Thanks for the tips!
