Air intakes?

i am looking to buy an air intake and i would like some opinions on which one i should get for my truck. i nave and 06 fx4, i just put on a magniflow si/do side exit infront of the tires exhaust and i love it it sounds good, could be louder buy i like the look and the rumble it does have. on my last truck i had flow masters and then put on a k&n kit and i really noticed the difference so i would like one for my F150 but not sure which one to get, any help is greatly welcome.

If you have a stock exhaust then ya you will be able to hear the intake. In my situation I put on a K&N 77 series and st8pipes from cats back. All you hear is my exhaust. the only way you can hear the intake is if you pop the hood and listen right there.

I just bought a new '06 FX4 Screw and installed a K&N 77 series CAI kit. I can definately here it when I stomp on it. I really like the response I got from it after installing it. That's what I'd recommend. Of course I have a stock muffler, but I am getting a complete Stainless Magnaflow system installed next week.

A CAI doesnt make your exhaust sound any different at all but the 2 mods (CAI & Free Flow Exhaust) do work together hand & hand. They compliment each other by loosening up both the front and back end of the motor allowing it to breathe much easier yeilding more power and better gas milage. If someone only has 1 of these mods done you are selling yourself short. Do the other one to really see more improvments and to get your $ worth.

Jay

FYI If you are running a supercharger A CAI will make it whine much louder. But nothing different in exhaust tone.

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY AIRRAID! I HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY SPACER AND THE INTAKE! I LOVE 'EM BOTH! THE SPACER GIVES AN ALMOST CONSTANT WHISTLE WHEN DRIVING AND THE INTAKE JUST SOUND WICKED!!! BUT I HAVEN'T BOUGHT MY MAGNAFLOW 16616 YET, CANNOT WAIT TO GET AND GET IT ON!!!

Intake is a great mod for any vehicle, and probally close to pays itself off if you are planning on keeping the vehicle for a good amount of time (filter replacement). Like everyone said in the previous replies, it is not going to make your exhaust tone sound noticably different.

Definatly put a new muffler on to compliment the intake!

Have the Airaid JR MIT and k&n drop in filter. Can hear it pretty well when stomping on the gas. At around $99 for the airaid mit and $30 k&n. Its one of the cheaper ways to go something difficult to do on this forum. These guys can give you many great ways to upgrade your truck and empty your wallet.

I went with the Volant, mainly because I liked the look of the sealed box...Intake Air Temp is only 6-8 degress above ambient most of the time so it must be doing it's job of keeping the air cooler.....It sounds pretty rowdy too when you get on it!

WTH Grant did you call AFE or whoever you called and tell them about the problem you encountered? I wonder if there is a dual air intake setup yet I had one on my old 01 Screw. FYI Roush Charger 5,199, Roush CAI included with Roush Charger, Having a 2005 F150 screaming like a Banshee out of hell P R I C E L E S S it is the most awesome sound especially in the morning that rushing sound of air beign sucked in.

I was all setup for the AFE intake kit but was on back order and the guy actually gave me the Airaid Intake kit which he sells for $20 more for the same price. I hope it works out because ive heard some good and bad things about Airaid.
