Hey all. I have an 04 F150 Reg Cab FX4 with a 5.4. I am looking into getting a magnaflow system and can't decide whether to go with the lightning style or the single out that looks stock. I spoke with a guy who said the stock style that had a longer muffler would give me better performance than the dual exiting the side in front of the tire. Is this true? Whould it make that big of a diff? Anyone have any exp. with either system? Thanks for all your input.

 

i just purchased the si/so factory exit today, should be in sometime this week...i also have a reg cab. ill let you know when i get it installed.

 

Thanks. That's really the one I was leaning towards. I'd like a little louder sound but I'd rather have the performance. Can't wait to find out.

 

Why would a SO have better performance than a DO setup?

Not sure myself but the guy explained it to me as if the size of the muffler was larger and also I think he said something about the length of tubing from muffler out to tips would somehow change it as well. He pretty well played it down as it really wouldn't be noticable to me at all so go with whichever one I wanted. But I'm no engineer.

 

Is there more than one kind of Magnaflow muffler? I'm talking about the muffler itself, not the piping.
