Removing Cat?
Removing Cat?
Im low on cash now and would atleast like my truck to sound alittle bit better.
Am I able to remove my Catalytic Converter and just replace it with a pipe to fill the gap.
Will this hurt my engine?
Im not worried about it being illegal or anything just would like a better sound for "free"
2001 Ford F-150 Lariat Extended Cab 5.4l V8
-Thanks

hey
whatsup hey i did this on my 94 and it did wonders. WAy more hp(but thats cuz mine was clogged and old) and a lot nicer sound. Go for it by all means. Just make sure to leave you enough room to add it back in when smoggin time comes around
if you are gonna remove them you need MIL eliminators. they plug into the wires for the 02 sensors tricking the computer into thinking you havent removed them. When i removed them on my 2000 5.4 it made the truck run real rich and threw check engine lights. GOt the eliminator for $50 from a mustang site, then it ran great. I wouldnt remove them without it.
yeah, you don't need no stinkin mil eliminators.a 1/4 ohm resistor in the signal wires on the downstream(back) o2 sensors will work just as well.on mine it was the gray wire.mine have been gutted for several years now and no problems.as long as they test your emissions by the obd scan port you'll be fine as long as you just gut your cats and run a piece of 2.5 pipe inside of em,which is what i suggest.it would most likely pass anyway cause my truck, even with gutted cats, tested a little over a 1/4 of the maximum co emissions.
