I recently put a vortec SI/DO exhaust on my '97. It has 3" in and twin 2 1/2" out. I had them exit just in front of the rear tires through 14" X 3" boom tubes.

I really like the sound and especially the crackle when you let off the throttle.
I put the tips on a slight angle but rotated the slash part of the tip so they are square to the body.

All said and done it cost me about $400 Cdn to do this and I notice a difference in the truck for fuel economy and power.

Nice choice. I've used the Vortec mufflers before, and was not dissapointed. I highly recommend them as a inexpensive alternative to flowmaster.

 

Yes, I think it has served me well to use the Vortec. I like the sound and I liked the price so I guess that's the kicker.

By the way-you have a very nice truck. It's the same colour as mine but mine is an extended vice the super...

I have also used VForce mufflers before, and had very good luck with them. http://www.flopro.com/VForce.htm I had absolutly no resonance. I believe it flowed very well. This is because I was using it on a turbo car, and if you add any extra resistance in flow "backpressure" then you loose the ability to spool up quickly. After installing this I was spooling the turbo faster and able to achieve a bit higher peak boost.
