Should I Bother?

Here's the deal, I bought my 5.4 '02 screw a little less than a year ago and whoever owned it before me added a few things. One of his mods was an Aero Turbine exhaust, which has mixed reviews to say the least. I was wondering if anyone knew whether I'd get reasonable gains by swapping it out with the magnaflow SISO rig. Would it be worth the roughly $500 it would take to do the switch, or should I just stick with what I've got and spend the $ elsewhere?

Hi.

No.

That ~$500 would be better spent on an Xcal2 and custom tuning - single best bang-for-buck in that price category. You'll even have some scratch left over to buy some cold ones to celebrate your wise decision with.... LOTS of cold ones. I can help you with those, BTW.

Notice the use of my new disclaimer so all you s/c guys don't give me chit

Also, noticed you are in SCT's home town - lucky dog!

Cheers

MGDfan is right Leave the Areo Turbine muffler alone. It's not a bad piece. Nothing else will get you any more performance, just a different sound. I've heard those on other 3V trucks and I thought it was good. There's more to spend your $$$ on like a CAI, e-fans, or a custom tune, talk to Mike Troyer at troyerperformance.com

Holy ****, $500 for exhaust?

Go for house piping and just buy the muffler and do your wallet a favor.

I got magnaflow full catback with a magnaflow name-brand 12 inch SS tip for $260 installed with CA tax!

Thanks, I wasn't really considering it seriously, but I got it in my head to add some aftermarket stuff about a month ago when I drove my friend's Titan and saw how crappy my stock PCM program was compared to the Nissan's. Now I've got around 1500 lined up for when I get back from school for winter break to beef my truck up, but now I've at least got one less bad idea bouncing around in my head. Thanks again guys, this site rocks

my whole exaust set up was 40 bucks installed....

SI/SO dynomax bullet dumped. 20 bucks used from a friend of a friend. and 20 to weld it in at a local muffler shop.

I agree, go for fans or tuning. Ive really gotten turned onto the gains from fans, and that will probably be my next mod.

I have the Aero exhaust on my truck. Sound qaulity is really good but it could be louder. Im just gonna buy a 14" magnaflow for like $90 on jegs since i already have the 3" piping. But now im thinking of going dual exhaust under the corner of the bumpers. Which means new piping.

Hi bud - if you go duals, search for Openclasspro's posts first - he used 2.25" mandrel-bent pipes, an x-pipe and maggies with terrific results
