Vortex exhaust
Vortex exhaust
I have recently installed a SI/DO Vortex exhaust on my '97 F-150 with the 3" SS tips exiting before the passenger tire.
It sounds very deep and throaty but I haven't had it on long enough to see if there are any gains with it....

Any gains in performance by simply changing the exhaust are minimal at best. It is almost impossible to feel by the seat of your pants. Did you do a baseline dyno test before the change? The after test will show an increase in power, 10-15 hp maybe. That's hard to feel. Still, changing the exhaust is a very important step to gaining more significant power. A new intake and a custom tune will really pump it up.

True, but I like the look and sound of the system. I also have a cold air intake and a superchip installed but i never played with the exhaust.
Just getting the stock muffler out of there was a big step. The thing looked like my hot water tank for pete's sake.
The 'ol 97 has done me well and it still runs like a new one.....
