Airaid Help !!
I just installed my new Airaid intake system yesterday and it works great with one execption. With the cruise set and I start going up a slight incline I get a very annoying Woooing or Roaring. It last for a few seconds then clears up. You can almost feel the truck vibrate while it is doing this. Is this normal? I like the system, it only gets really loud when you nail it but this is going to drive me crazy. BTY the truck is not dropping into a lower gear, the noise just goes away after a few seconds.
Mine has done that, but not in cruse, Sometimes when I,m driving I step on the gas a bit and the truck dose'nt down shift and the intake makes that noise untill a higher rpm is reached.... (Sounds like a boging noise on a bike when you try to accelerate in to high of gear...)so I would say this is normal...
Now it is really driving me crzy. I just returned from a 400 mile trip mostly on flat land and Interstate and I get the noise when I touch the cruise or throttle. I can't believe this is normal. The roaring is so loud that it rattles things in the truck for the few seconds until it stops.
Is every one having this problem with these intakes? I did expect some noise when I hit the gas but not this racket during normal driving.

You might have other problems,,,my intake is not bad at all, just hear and there I get the no downshift roar...probley once every few months. Contact Airaid ask them whats up,,they helped me with mine!! (Good Tec support!!!)

I will contact AR tomorrow. I was forced to put the stock intake back on today. I drive 1000 to 1200 miles a week and the noise would be to much to take during my week traveling.
I looked close to make sure everything was tight and in the right place and it looked OK.
Something else that seems strange is I lost app.1.5 MPG during the 400 mile trip.I make this trip on a regular basis and avg. 15.8 to 16.1. With the AR intake I reset the truck odometer and the Edge and got 14.2 on the Edge and 14.6 on the truck.

I noticed that the tuning of the EDGE causes more intake noise. Probably due to the increase in timing.
I would try putting it back on and retune the EDGE to stock for a couple of days.
Although I guess that won't help anyway. Most of the intakes make noise at some point in the rpm range. You just happen to have it in the range that you cruise at most of the time.
I just have the Airaid jr on my 05 and it will drone at just the right rpm and load. Mostly slight upgrade and part throttle. But not for very long.
Good luck. Hope you get it sorted out.

Finally after the third call I got someone at AR.They seemed perpelexed at the noise I described above.
The only suggestion they had was to reset the Edge to stock, completely remove it, reinstall the AR intake, run the truck at least 20 miles, then reinstall the Edge.
Does this sound legit or like a bunch of horse pucky ?

The stock intake is designed to be as quiet as possible while providing enough air flow. I have used aftermarket intakes on every vehicle I have ever owned. All the way back to a 63 Chevy with a 6 banger. All were louder at some point in the rpm range. Quiet and performance don't mix very well.
I think EDGE's advice is pretty sound. What they are saying is go back to stock. Let the computer relearn with the Airaid on.
Then load the EDGE so it can learn with the Airraid on. I don't think it will help much. But it makes sense.
Can't hurt. Give it a shot.

edge/airaid
I have both of these on my truck as well. I did add the airaid almost immediately after buying my truck. 20,000 miles later I added the edge evolution tuner. maybe thats why I have none of the issues you are showing. Hope they work it out
I have had 2 AirAids on my 01 and 06 F-150.
Did you ever drive a Hi performance muscle car with an aftermarket air cleaner?? When you stand on it, and those dual quads, quadrajet, Holley, or Carter AFB open up, you will hear the same type of sound.
My 06 does the same thing on cruise control, or on a left hand turn, easy throttle, LOUD sucking sound. But I know it's supposed to do that, so it doesn't bother me. On your std, stock air system, that dumb looking addition to the intake tube is there to silence the sound you are hearing on the aftermarket system

I had an Airaid on my 04, 05 and 06 F150. I would get a drone sound at 1800rpm with the stock tune. After loading my Troyer xcal2 tune it was gone. But whenever I returned to stock for a trip to the dealer, it would make the drone sound at 1800rpm. Recently I upgraded to the xcal2/AF1 3.25 intake combo and no more drone. My brother has an 05 has the same Airaid kit and gets the same drone sound you describe. I think it has to do with the light weight plastic construction of the unit, where as the AF1 is heavy stainless construction and you only hear it when you get on the gas hard. I do like the sounds of the open intakes at WOT. Had a few old 1970 Cutlass's when I was a teen and we used to flip the air clearer covers upside down to get that sound. But yea, it could get annoying if you were towing with the Airaid since it drones at 1800 and that's a good cruising rpm range.
