Flowmaster 50 Series Question???

Hello all,

I am new to the boards. I just purchased a 2006 Screw last week and I am loving it!! I was so excited when I came across this site. I've had my truck about 10 days and already I've added a K&N polished aluminum CAI, just ordered a lift kit for it about 1 hour ago, bought a bedrug for it and now I am ready for some Flowmasters. Man, this truck thing is expensive!!

Anyway, I know that I want a 50 series Flowmaster dual cat back exhaust kit, but what is the difference in the SUV version and the Delta flow??? Which one do I really want? I'd get the 40 series, but the wife and neighbors would kill me! I actually really do want the 50 series as I don't want it excessivly loud. I just don't know the differences in these 2 kits. Help this newbie out!!!

Thanks

Los

i had the 50 series suv/performance on my 01 supercrew and took it off and put the 40 series on because it wasn't what i was looking for. the 40's are perfect and there not really that much louder than the 50's just a little diiferent tone. hope this helps.

I too have the FM40's... I had a local muffler shop install true dual exhaust. They cut just below each exhaust bank(below CAT) and installed stainless pipes back through two FM40's (SISO) and then out each side behind rear wheels through late 70's model Trans-Am style dual outlet chrome tips. Gosh! What a sound... this is just what I wanted. A nice rumble @ idle and while accelerating but, at cruise speed it is quiet with that deep tone sound. I have gotten several compliments on the sound... My truck is currently having a suspension kit installed. I will post pictures as soon as possible. I also love that SuperCrew. Good Luck in your choice of exhaust systems.... BoB

Sounds like $$ might be an issue here.
I had my muffler guy cut out the factory pipe and install a Flowmaster 40 in SS. His extension was also SS. Then he cut and rewelded my tailpipe straight out and added a rectangle tip in SS, nicely straight out under the bumper up high and without protrusion.
All for $250.
Sounds great(not loud), no drone and tip looks custom 2" X 6".

I have the Flowmaster 50 suv with SI/DO setup and it's just right for me. The 40 series I have had on other vehicles had to much drone at 65 mph. The 50 series has a nice sound, but is quiet at speed. WOT it's alot more noise for sure. I can hear the wife when she turns the corner onto our street, so it has plenty of noise without being harsh inside the cab.

Good luck.

I have three kids myself and was worried about the sound with the 40 series. I don't have hardly any drone at highway speeds. The only time I know it is there is when I pass someone. At low speed accelaration I can hear the drone but it isn't THAT loud. I had the 50 series before and it just wasn't worth it. Just didn't have enough sound.

Just put the 50 series Flowmaster dual cat back exhaust on my SuperCrew and chose the Delta Flow rather than the SUV. It seems to be a little louder than the SUV 50 but only time will tell. It has a deeper rumble and thats why I chose it. I have the stainless tips and that may also increase the sound. I have not had it at interstate speed because I am on vacation at the lake this week but can get back to you later.
