I just installed True Dual exhaust on my 06 Supercrew 5.4. I installed the flowmaster original 40. I had the shop cut just below the cats' on each side of the down pipe. Ran stainless back from both sides and through two FM 40s' and turned them out each side through 78 style dual outlet trans-am stainless tips. All you can see are the dual tips out each side behind the rear wheels... Looks great and sounds awesome. I just do not care for the Y pipe exhaust ... single input muffler and dual output to get the apperance of dual exhaust. Its still a restricted exhaust but with two outputs. Looks good but NO performance gain. My cost(including stainless tips) was $322.50 Mineike muffler wanted $450.00 plus tips... If you shop around you might even find it cheaper... Good Luck BoB

Good cat backs are Magnaflow, or JBA or Bassani in my opinion. I think the Bassani may be the loudest, but the others have the tone your looking for. The only time I will suggest Flowmaster is where the climate is good, say southern USA. Give aluminized steel some salty winters and you get 2 years or so. Stainless systems rule. Oh ya, Borla too. OK, looked at your locale and FLA is it, so really it's anyones guess, the Flows will be the loudest of all mentioned.

If you want the lower rumble, bit louder when you romp on the pedal I like Magnaflow. The flowmasters I had on my last truck were fairly loud, crackly and droned at highway speeds. Expect $300-$400 for a muffler shop to bend the pipe, fully weld it up and tips.

I recommend the flows myself, just had mine put on two weeks ago and love 'em more everyday. They're plenty loud without being obnoxious and the wifey knows when you're home... I got mine done for $240 in Anderson, SC and love it.

Good luck..._motes

Oh yeah...I don't like the way that the Magnaflows and most of those other companies' mufflers sound...the Flowmasters are what you're looking for in the south...everybody's got 'em and everybody loves 'em..._motes

Well, I happen to love how the magnaflows sound. Alot of people try and say that they are poppy when decelerating. But every muffler I've heard on our trucks do that...EVEN the flows.

The thing I don't like about the flows is they are known to take away torque due to their "pattented" baffling system. If i'm gonna do exhaust, I want a good sound AND the best performance all in one package. I don't want to lose anything on these heavy trucks...especially torque.

Check out the Dynomaxx universal sport mufflers I really love mine and they will not affect torque and I think they sound really good.

I actually ordered my Magnaflow SI/SO today. I also ordered their only double-wall tip that would fit the 3" OD piping of the cat-back.

Ever since I saw the double-wall tips that Banks uses, I had to have one.

By the way....hottexhaust.com gave me a killer deal using their "fordtruck8" coupon code. They also never hesitated to answer several emails from me about finding the tip I needed. Sometimes I would receive an email directly back from them within 15 minutes. Awesome customer service!! Just ask for John!
