This is going to probably sound strange, but I have a weird ticking sound that only happens when I accelerate.

The ticking is not there at all when I'm at idle. In fact everything seems to be great when I have the hood up and start the engine at any time of the day.

Then I start to drive and the ticking noise is only there when I am hitting the gas on the truck.

I can even put it into neutral when I'm going like 15-20 miles an hour and it completly stops. (It positivly only happens when I'm accelerating)

Then I get into around 4-5 gear on the highway and it stops

I have looked for a sound everywhere when it is in idle and I can't find a single thing even with a piece of hose.

Oh and when I'm idleing (or in neutral when I'm driving) and I accelerate there is no ticking at all. It';s driving me mad.

I have replaced the PCV valve, changed the spark plugs, changed the oil to 5-20, even had it looked at by a muffler place and he said I just have to deal with it, but thats Bulls@#t.

Oh and one more thing the sound is really loud if I go on a trip for mreo than 100 miles at one time then let it rest for a night then start is up in the mourning, that is when the ticking is really really loud then its milder until another trip

do a search on broken bolts on exhaust manifolds.
look under your front wheel well and take a look at your manifold and i bet your going to see a broken bolt on the top inner most bolt. its common. my truck has the same thing.. dose not effect the performance at all thats why i have not fixed it. i hope thats all it is. good luck
