05 FX4 flowmasters?...how loud?

I want to put some flows on my truck. I know I'm gonna cut them off after the muffler and turn 'em down, but can't decide which mufflers I want.

I have been looking at the Super 40's, the Delta Flow 40's, and the 50 series SUV and from listening to the sound clips, I like the way that the 50 series sound.

The other question is how loud is it gonna be in the cab with the turndowns under the cab with these mufflers? I just want aggressive, not obnoxious. The wifey's gotta ride in it too.

Just doing a little research and would love the help.

Thanks!

Flow's may be more prone to droning due to their design.. Magnaflow's should give you what your looking for.

Worry more about drone then noise.

Motes, the turn downs will increase the in cab noise, reguardless of muffler choice. The 50 series has a nice easy idle, and good rumble under acceleration. Remember, its gonna be louder behind the truck than in it or in front of it! And flowmasters "blow out" after a couple months and get a deepr tone to them.

I'm running two SISO 40's on mine and I love it. It's pretty loud at 1800-2000 RPM and again starting about 3k RPM. When cruising its not bad at all, usually the stereo usually covers it up

I have tried 40, super40, delta40, and now have the 50 SUV. From my experiance the 40 line all have this horrible drone at certain rpm's as stated above. I am very pleased with the set up now. It is si/dor. The truck is loud outside and quiet inside so the lady is comfortable but people know your their. Alot of people have their opinion about which is better (flows or magna flow) but it all comes down to preference of sound. In my opinion the Flows are more agressive with a deep rumble while the Magnaflow is higher pitched and raspy. But like I said "In My Opinion" (so don't hate) I like the Flows. If you decide to dump it after the exhaust then it will be alot louder in the cab.

PS. I am not bashing the Magnaflow, I just like deeper agressive sound.

Original40 is the loudest. You have to remeber that since you have a big block you are going to want a big block muffler. Original40, Super40, and 50SUV are all big block mufflers.

Yes, you are correct Fordwitflows. I'm sorry. Super 40 is the deepest but it also has the worst drown.

Just got rid of my flowmaster 40 and put on magnaflow sido. Much happier. I thought I was not going to have a problem with the drone but it was horrible. The magnaflow sound is as good to me but much better at interstate speeds.

I was unaware that a 5.4 was a big block. If my math is correct that is only approximately 327 cubic inches.

Some one correct me if I am wrong.
