Which exhaust frees up the most hp?

I am thinking of a new exhaust in the next year or so. If i am going to spend the money I want to see some power gains come along with the sound.

Are there any dyno proven tests out there that show one exhaust setup to free up more power than the others? I have searched the net and have yet to find any such tests.

At this point my truck is stock except for the k&n and some light mods to the air box. '02 f150 w/ 5.4.

If someone could point me to some artivles i would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Aaron

i would go with the gibson single swept side cat-back exhaust system. it has a nice mellow sound to it and you will definetly notice more horsepower and torque. i installed on my 03 f 150 with the 4.6 in december and it has improved my gas mileage. check out their exhaust systems at www.gibsonexhaust.com

It's sad to say but every truck is different and every dyno shop will give you different results so finding the best exahaust in terms of power is nearly impossible.

My philisophy is to buy the system with the best quality and reputation if you do not want to spend big $$ trying every system on the market and paying for track time testing the differences.

I would agree, my K&N (JBA) is si/so and freed up a noticeable amount. Gave her a nice tone too, it pleases me who is picky on exhaust. Performance and sound they are good.

Which exhaust frees up most hp?

I just installed a Corsa Touring single side out with the Pro 4" tips. Soft sound that has noticable results of HP gain and looks are great. You can go to there website and see the test results and also hear the sound of the system. would recommend this system to anybody. It is a little more expensive that most systems but well worth the cost.

That's good to hear. JBA is the kit I've been eyeing and probably getting.

You don't happen to have a sound clip of the JBA do you? Or know where I can find one?

Hi.

Oddly enough, some of the best exhaust system advice is found in the "chips & programming" section. Here's my fave example:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...little+baffles

My advice to you is do not buy an aftermarket exhaust system until you have thoroughy searched that forum and read the testing that has been done... if you truly are interested in performance. If it's just about sound, buy what pleases you.

Search will also solve your acronym problems ... Use Advancesd Search to narrow things down ( as in my example above).

(BTW - a stainless catback is about the same cost (close enough) as a custom tuner - and the tuner is far better performance-wise in the 'bang-for-buck' department - just food for thought. Tuner first, then intake, then exhaust.)

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Grog

SI/SO means one pipe into the muffler and one exiting, most of the time run out the stock location. SI/DO= one pipe entering and two exiting, making it look like you have duals. I have a Magnaflow 18" SI/DO muffler with the pipes exiting in front of the passenger rear, looking like the Lightning style. Unlike with a SloMaster, the Magnaflow actually increases low end torque, while sounding just a little louder than stock on idle. But, lets you know that its there when you jump on it.

That's what I thought.

So, when you are looking at the Magnaflow 16612, is it a specific size muffler? Or do you have to specify size when you order. I was unable to find anything describing the different muffler sizes on Magnaflows website for the 16612.

EDIT: Nevermind on that last question...I found the answer...it comes with the 18".
