MagnaFlow Exhaust
MagnaFlow Exhaust
I am getting ready to purchase a MagnaFlow cat-back kit for my 2006
F-150 extended cab with 6.5 ft. bed and factory tow package. I was wanting a dual rear exit system. The MagnaFlow 16614 says that it may not work with oem trailer hitches.
Has anyone installed a MagnaFlow cat-back SIDO system on a 2006 5.4L F-150. If so what kit did you use?
Thanks,
Tom

I installed the maggie 16614 on my F-150 FX4 '05. The mounting holes for the rear pipe hanger brackets were not there, I think they were covered by the hitch brackets. I can't confirm that because I never removed the hitch. I called Magnaflow about it and the tech rep said he never heard about that problem and he said my only option was to weld it on. So I had the hangers welded onto the frame by a muffler shop. To do it, I removed the factory exhaust and installed the maggie exhaust. I literally tied up the rear pipes to the frame with nylon ropes attached to the hangers using the supplied rubber interface. I drove (very slowly) to the shop. The shop welded their own brackets and hangers and cut off the stock maggie hangers. It worked out well, cost me $60 for everything. I was actually happy they used their own hangers because there were clearance issues (hanger and spare tire) with the stock maggie hangers. Hope this helps.

I have the same body - just 2005. I'll repeat what everybody else said - fits fine w/the hitch except for hanging the back pipes. I'm pretty sure that doesn't have anything to do w/the hitch, though. I just bought some cheap universal clamps/hangers from Walmart or somewhere like that and bolted them to existing holes in the frame (I think where the original hangers were). No problems and sounds great.
Thanks for all the help. I went ahead and got the MagnaFlow 16616 Dual Side Exhaust (Lightning style). Really enjoy the system. Not loud inside once you get to cruising speed. I can't relaly tell they are there once I get up to highway speed, i.e., quit accelerating. You definelty know they are there while accelerating however not overly loud just a nice powerful rumble.
