Borla?

Does any have the Borla split rear exhaust on a 5.4L 97-03 F150? If so what do you think of it? Sound, mpg's, hp, etc.?

I couldn't get the system I wanted, kinda odd truck I guess but ya definetely if you can get it, do so. Borla is a hell of a system, nice sound again comparable to a Magnaflow. Hp's, don't know of a system made that yields very noticeable gains, just good noise. I did notice a slight increase, but got it for sound. Do it man, Borla's good.

I hear that Borla is the best quality, but I'm like you. Wonder about Sound, MPG, HP, etc. worth spending the extra $$$.

I dont have the true Borla duals but I retroed a Magnaflo dual exhaust. I deleted the mag muffler and added the Borla Pro XS si/do. Louder than the Maggie as far as hp and MPG seems to be the same. Im all hwy and I am avg about 16 to 17 mpg give or take.

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone. smkeater I was going to go with the split rear not sure if the muffler that comes in the full system is the pro xs? What size pipe are you running? I think the system comes with 2.5" pipe and 3" tips.

The muffler was 3" in 2.5" out hte muff shop expanded the outlets to be able to slip onthe current duals

Is there a big difference from 2.5 to 3" pipe and the 3 to 3.5" tips? Also I talked to guy at Gibson exhaust and he told me not to waste my money on high flow cats since most newer trucks late 90's - 2000's and up pretty much have what would be considered a high flow cat. Do you notice any difference? What do you think about that?

I have the Borla splits on my 06 5.4L King Ranch. I love the sound that the exhaust puts off, I can't say that I have noticed a whole lot of difference in MPG, I installed the Borla exhaust and an AirRaid cold air intake kit the same day. I have picked up about 1 MPG increase since installing the two, but it also might be coming from the truck starting to break in. Its fairly new with about 740 miles on it. I have noticed a rather large difference in pickup with the install of the Borla exhaust and the Airraid intake. Hope this helps you out!

Thanks MBMILLER25, It helps the more I hear people are happy with Borla. I pretty much have my mind set on Borla. I just hope it is the right choice for the amount of money. You know if it is not the right sound, look, size your stuck with it and it is not cheap. I am sure Borla is the right way to go.

I had a Borla system on my 1998 F150 Ext cab Shortbed with the 4.6 and the 5 speed. I loved it, and it did do a little to increase MPG, about 2-3 on easy driving, however, with the way I drove it, it didn't help much. I sold that a while ago, now I've got a 2003 Ext cab Shortbed 5.4L with the Ford Racing / Borla system (identical to the one I had on the '98). I really liked the sound out of it, at around 55, there's very little drone in the cab, but when you get on it, it sounds aggressive enough for me. I noticed a little MPG increase, probably 1 MPG (I'm also running a K&N air filter). I don't really notice a huge increase in HP when I'm taking off from a stop light, but it's pretty noticable around 2500 to 3000 rpms (off ramps are fun). I definitely will get a borla exhaust for my next truck, whatever it'll be, I love 'em. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with Borla.

RacerX, One more thing I was wanted to add I bought my exhaust from AutoAnything. I used a "Truckin" discount coupon that is still working as of today and the complete cat back system cost me $480 delivered which I thought was a hell of a price. Just an FYI

Yea thats exactly what I said when I ordered it. In fact the guy on the phone even made the comment that it was a hell of a price, almost questioning it. I know for a fact that if you type in "truckin" in the coupon code it will give you 10% off your entire order, I just ordered an Access Lorado tonneau cover and used it on that order Saturday. You can also call in and just tell them "truckin" and they will give you the discount as well. Hope that helps you out.

MBMILLER, That was a big help! Thanks! I was wondering if we were talking about the same system cuz the one I am looking at is the dual split rear and it is $780 and with the code it made it $703? That is still a better price though. Thanks again.

Racer, I am sorry I thought you were asking about the single side exit. I have a brand new baby here, so forgive me I am not getting much sleep and am not all that sharp these days. I am glad that the discount code was some help to you.
