Flowmaster and stock pipes

I was thinking of taking off the stock exhaust and putting on a SI/DO flowmaster but the input is 3". None of the stock pipes appear to be 3"

What is the best size to buy for maximum sound?
get something that matchs stock pipe or getthe 3" w/ dual outs and make and adapter

Then why doesn't it show up that way on flowmasters web page

The catback systems have a 3" input put they also supply pipe that goes between the "Y" and the muffler so i was thinking the dimension difference is made up in that.

Any good muffler shop should be able to weld the 3" inlet muffler to a 2 1/2" pipe, or you could just buy an adaptor easy.

You could buy an adaptor, or just expand the pipe on the car and contract the pipe on the muffler. Or just clamp the shiat out of it then weld it. There are ways my friend, there are ways. I've managed to get 2.5 inch pipe to mate to little honda 1.5 inch with a hammer and expander.

We've done the same thing...took a 2.5" universal muffler and put it on a 1.5" Celica...must have had about 6 - 8" of adaptors on the end of it. Glad it wasn't my car.

And, WD40 for those things that stick and shouldn't, along with duct tape for those things that should stick but don't.

Any good muffler shop should be able to expand the muffler outputs and inputs provided there is enough metal length. I just had a flowmaster 40 that was 3" in with 2.5" out expanded to fit my 3" exit pipes. Nice and clean and no adapters just the usual clamps. I also made it a true 3" after the cats also

If I wanted to go to a muffler shop i wouldn't be hear asking questions. If there is a way to do it myself i rather not pay someone else.

Hey sorry my mistake what I meant was you can expand a mufflers outlets if they are to small without having to adapt them. It would prob be cheaper to have a shop expand the outlets if needed unless you have the pipe expander or a bud who does. I had a shop do mine because it was cheaper in the end sorry for the confusion
