Flowmaster on a 4banger?

Anyone ever hear a 4banger Ranger or any other 4banger vehicle for that matter with a Flowmaster(s) on it? I'm thinking of switching out my Magnaflow 6" round fat thing to something alittle more mean sounding. Debating between the 40 or 50 series. Drone is somewhat of an issue since I do travel on the weekends, but at the same time I do like to hear my exhaust. -Mike-

I've never put one on a 4 banger, but I'll add this. My true dual are unequalized. Some say that will cause the sounds of dueling 4 bangers. I don't think so. You can hear the unchained melodies of both banks singing the guzz sucking songs of victory.

Thanks 98Navi!

I'll be putting a cat converter back on it sometime soon. The weedwacker sound and little problems are really getting my nerves. MY old one was shot anyway. -Mike-

I don't think you're gonna get away from the weedwacker sound...

Before I discovered my cat went bad and took it off, I had a 6" round universal Mag on there. It sounded good, nice low tone but very quiet., alittle too quiet for my likings, That's when I found out my cat was bad and just ripped it off then my truck started sounding all raspy, out of control and no tone to it. Now I regret it I feel pretty confident when I put a new Magnaflow cat on, it will help out control the sound and get my tone back, then decide from there if I want a different style Magnaflow or a Flowmaster. -Mike-

I have a ravin' muffler with 2.5" inch tubing on my 91 probe gt. It's an inline four turbocharged and intercooled. Sounds very deep, no weed whacker here.

I went back and reread this post. Your problem is that its a complete straight through exhuast. You have no restrictions whatsoever. Once the cats were removed, coupled with that magnafart ( )straight through design muffler, you just basically have a straight pipe system. Just change the muffler first, with a flowmaster. Pick your poison on that one, 40 or 50 series. I'd probably select the 50 if you don't want any drone. But you may be able to get away without the cat that way.

Magnafart....LMAO! I laughed out loud when I saw that because it is so true in my case!

Now that I think about it more, your right! I am pretty much straight piped. Thing is though, my thinking is the packing inside the muffler would help silence some of that excess noise, not in my case. I've realized that 4bangers need more baffling to get them to sound deep and clean vs a V6 or
V8. -Mike-

I have a flowmaster 40 on my 97 wrangler, and I like it. Gave it a nice growl for a 4 banger.
