2004 FX4 w/ 5.4L exhaust help
When considering exhaust performance upgrades, what factors need to be considered in choosing the proper cat. converter, and cat-back system, as well as headers. Plan on doing the exhaust mod first then add a cold air intake followed by the Xcal2 flash programmer. Looking for moderate increase in performance and fuel economy. Truck is primarly used for work and travelling to different job sites.
Thanks for the assistance,
Turbine Dave

You need to look for high-flow cats. The cat-back system you choose will depend on what sound you want and how loud you want it. There's lots to chose from. Personally, I like the Flowmaster 40 series SIDO in front of the right rear tire. My truck sounds awesome. The headers, I'd go with long tubes, they increase torque better than short tubes and help with sound even more. That's next on my list. Forget fuel milage increases, as soon as you here what your truck sounds like with all the mods you're doing, you won't want to keep foot out of it.
