Question Bosch vs. Motorcraft O2 sensors

I just replaced my upstream O2 sensors (factory with 62K mi.) on my 2001 4.6L with Bosch 15716's. I noticed the part that goes inside the exhaust is shaped quite differently. The Bosch ones look like your traditional O2 sensor, but the Motorcraft ones look totally different...what gives? Is one better than the other? Thanks!!!

P.S. Is there anything to be told by the appearance of the old sensors or should I just toss em?

Cool

The factory sensors should be Bosch parts. The Bosch sensors you just installed are most likely a newly revised or an updated part. Throw the old ones away or hang 'em from your mirror.

The new ones look like all the ones I've seen in the past...it's the factory Motorcraft that looks foreign to me...

i believe they updated the design to attemp to make them last longer. i did it too with my 2000 f-150 front o2's that looked a little differant when i bought the bosch. ford uses that brand on new and just slaps their name on them. i havent had any problems.

You won't. But you can save them in case one of the new ones or one of the rears quits working. You can just pop in one of your spares.
