Looking For Catback System For Mileage

I'm currently looking for a Catback System, but am concerned about Gas Mileage. Is there a dual exhaust system out there that I can get that will not rob me of my current gas mileage (or improve my mileage)?

Appreciate any help......Thanks

Are you looking for a true dual system or will a SIDO (single in, dual out) work for you? Which ever one you want there are many to chose from, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Borla, Gibson etc.. Any of these will open the flow of the exhaust allowing the engine to breath better, there for improving gas milage under normal driving conditions. You'll also pick-up some extra hp at the same time. A good intake and air filter will help also. As for which brand to chose? that will depend on what sound you want. Magnaflow tends to be on the mild side, Flowmaster is much louder. Hopefully more guys will give you their experiences with their trucks. Good luck.

Appreciate the help adt.

I'm looking for a SIDO System and a mild sound, so the Magnaflow will probally work great for me. As for the Intake, I already have a K&N Filter installed since the truck was new and it has worked as advertised.

Thanks again

Try an IMCO Elite series performance exhaust. I highly recommend them. The sound is great when accelerating, but when you are cruising you can't tell its there. There are many on here who have them and speak highly of them compared to the more popular brands like flowmaster, magnaflow, gibson, etc. Do a search for IMCO.

I've never hear of IMCO before, but after viewing their website ( http://grabthepower.com/ ), I like what I see. I will give IMCO great consideration first.

Been many years since i've been looking for any type of Performance Aftermarket Equipment for any of my cars & trucks, so i'm pretty much been out of touch for anything.

Appreciate the help Joe

I don't think you will lose any mileage regardless of which aftermarket system you chose. You may even gain some mileage (if you can keep your foot out of the throttle). I bought and installed a Magnaflow cat-back system and while I haven't really determined whether the mileage increased - it hasn't gone down any after the mod. I think the tradeoff is worth the sound (mellow and tough) even if the mileage went down. If I cared that much about mileage, I wouldnt' own a truck.

i have had a full exhaust from the headers back, high flow cats and all for nearly 3 years and I have yet to see a mileage increase. If you are looking to improve mileage it may help but probably not.
