Question Ripped?

Hey guys, I am new to this.
I am from the Grand Rapids area and am looking for a shop that does
cat back dual exhaust. I was quoted $400 for aluminized pipes with
no muffler and stainless tips. Is this high or is it just me?

Yea considering you could get a flowmaster dual with muffler for prob $380 or all stainless starting at $500 and up. Depends on howmuch your willing to spend and the style. I have a magnaflo catback dual cost me $620 installed. I have seen cheaper dual and single exhausts but not sure of the lifespan especially if your in a winter area where they use a lot of road salt.

That seems pretty high. Like smkeater said, you can usually get the flowmaster catback installed for about 350-400, at least here in Oklahoma you can.

Bad weather

I live in Michigan (salty roads), but my truck is leased. I will have it for 2 more years.
That is the reason I don't want to put more nonrefundable (stainless) money in it. Anyone know price for Tuffy or Midas to do it, or do I go to a non- chain place?

When I originally priced my system theyMidas wanted $340 to weld a flowmaster with new dual pipes for the same price or a little more I had a catback flowamster installed for around $360 but it rusted out after 2 years being here in the NE with salty roads during the winter. I then switched to the Magnaflo had it on my truck for 10 months the muffler looks good but the pipes are starting to look like crap cheap stainless pipes. You might be able to retro just your muffler if your pipes are ok depends on what you want

OK, this is what I am thinking

Replace stock muffler with performance muffler. That will keep $$$ down. The thing is, I would like to put Harley type twin tips in stock location. Will it work or will I see too much of stock stainless? Where can I get similar tips? Thanks for advise thus far.

I just had a magnaflow installed where the stock muffler was, and a chrome tip and it cost me 145.00 bucks. Defiantly sounds nice, i am very pleased with the outcome.

I know Borla makes the Ford SVT exhaust. I think Ford racing carries the tips. Im getting a setup through my friend Im going to see if everything can be seperated or if its welded. I might have extra tips lyin around but i think they are dual side exit before the wheel.
