v6 Aftermarket Exhaust Question
v6 Aftermarket Exhaust Question
I have a 4.2 v6 in my 97 f150 and i'd really like to do away with the nasty looking pipe that comes out right infront of the passenger-back tire. A guy that has a z28 is trying to sell me his flowmaster for 50 bucks that has 1 inlet and 2 outlets and he claims that it will fit my truck. He said if i bought it and put it real close to the engine and cut the cats off that it would give me close to a v8 sound but before i go and waste 50 bucks on that thing id like to know if it would fit or not. Thanks for any help.
save your $50...
You can't make a V6 sound like a V8...although you can make it louder...but, not always a good louder....
Also...his muffler is most likely the transverse SI/DO version used for his car...and it's not exactly like a true SI/DO used for duals on trucks.
I hope this helps.

Too bad you didn't live nearby and it was a year ago, I had my stock exhaust sitting around and finally got rid of it. That is to say you want stock. It fit a reg cab flareside anyways, but as far as I know the flowmaster he's selling would enter through a inlet and out through outlets, one facing the rear and one facing the front. He's trying to teach you a 50 dollar lesson, give him a 20 dollar shovel to the head. Maybe have a muffler shop make some tubes, or just buy an aftermarket system. They will give a nice v-6 sound, only a v-8 will give a v-8 sound, give him another hit with that shovel. And you thaught buying that shovel was a waste I'll bet.
