VOLANT CAT BACK Exhaust on 04 FX4
I think I may be a gunnea pig on this one. I've heard great things about Volant intakes and read up on the exhaust and for the price it sounded good sooo...
I bought one, got it home and had a couple friends come over to help out. When I opened the box we were like... WOW! All packaged nicely in bubble wrap and carboard. It was like Christmas unwrapping the ALL POLISHED stainless pieces. It was in four pieces (muffler included).
So we pulled out the old and set in the new one... it's just that easy!
Not really, there were no istructions or pictures of how it should look when completed so we had to fit it and adjust it but it went in almost perfectly! The one major thing is to NOT throw away the extension piece from the cat to the stock muffler... this had to be cut down and used to couple the cat to the new Volant stuff. Other than that it went in nicely and looked great... the tip is real nice being it's double walled so it won't discolor with the heat.
Then I started it up and it sounded great, like a V-8 should! I've grown up around hot rods and this truck... did not sound much like anything with a V-8 in it, but now it does. It's not overly loud but has a nice deep rumble and sounds good when you step on it. There wasn't too much change in cabin noise either although I do know it's there.
I gave it a few good revs and later on the wife told me that she could hear it in the house! RIGHT ON!
As for adding to the performance? I really couldn't tell ya much because I added an Edge Advantage at the same time... NOW that made a performance difference.
So would I recommend it? Definately! Sounds great, looks great and went in fairly easy.
