Flowmasters Stink!!!
I Have An 04 F-150 And I Had A Generic Muffler Called Ravin Welded On About 6 Months Ago. No Real Performance Increase That I Noticed But The Sound Was Great. Today I Removed The Ravin And Installed Two Flowmaster 40 Series....my Sound Was Cut In Half And I Noticed A Performance Decrease. Now I Have To Remove The Crapmasters And Try Something Else. Oh Well, Thats Life. Did Anyone Else Have The Same Problem?

I have an '06 Screw. I got the 40 series installed the day after I bought it. I was gonna go with the 50 series but decided that there would be to much drone in the backseats.(I carry clients around from time to time). The power is fine for me, though I never had anything else. Maybe you should try the 50 series.
Ravin
Which Ravin (Z-33, Z-55, etc.) did you have and why did you remove it? I used to have a Flowmaster 40 and am planning to try a Ravin Z-33 and would like to have your feedback on the Flowmaster vs. Ravin, such as sound inside the truck, outside, etc.
I'm Not Sure Which Raven It Was. The Drone Inside Was Not Bad At All. The Only Reason I Tried To Switch To Flowmaster Was Because I Like That Raspy Mustang Type Sound And I Thought Flowmaster Would Do That. How Can I Get That Sound Without Buying A Stang?
Well you went from 1 muffler to two might be a good reason. You had one muffler trying to muffle the sound of both banks of the motor, now you have two mufflers trying to muffle 1 engine bank each so it is doing a better job at muffling it. By adding the extra muffler and piping you reduced some of the exhaust systems scavanging ability(backpressure) so that is probably why you felt a loss down low.
I would replace the 2 40's with a single in double out and see what you get.
FYI All mustangs sound different. I have the SLP Loudmouth on mine and it is a really raw, raspy, dont f@ck with me type of sound, some mustangs have a more refined tone. On my last stang I had Flowmaster 40's and it sounded great, not as loud or raw as what I have now but I still like the flowmaster sound as much as I like the SLP sound.

Your's may stink, I love mine. SIDO Flowmaster. Maybe I like stink, but if it were any louder, it would be LOUD!

COME TO FIND OUT AFTER I CALLED THE JACK*** THAT DID THE WORK, HE TOLD ME HE ACUALLY PUT 50 SERIES ON, NOT 40 SERIES THAT WE AGREED ON. HE SAID THE 50 SOUNDS BETTER. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, I THINK HE'S AN IDIOT.
i've had my flowmaster 50 series on for 2 weeks now and i love them. they weren't loud at all when i first put them on but now it sounds like a total different truck. it took a while for them to break in. i love the tone of the 50's. its got a real throaty meaty tone.
i had true dual flowmaster 40'S on my 4.6 and it was LOUD. at idle it was nice a lopey, definitely raspy if floored. Didn't have any drone either. Had the mufflers mounted under the bed like the original muffler. Had a dual in/out magnaflow installed in the flows place and it was wayyyyy to quiet, lots of drone as well.
