flowmasters.

i just got flowmaster 50 series suv/performance with stainless steel tips on my 01 supercrew 5.4 and it is sweet. i no some of yal here don't like flowmasters but i almost went with magnaflow but it was a little to expensive. i has a real meaty real balsy tone and it is awsome. the guy at the muffler shop said it would increase my power by about 30% and i believe him. its got alot better accleration, hp and torgue. i'll try to post pics and sound clips of it.

Balsey tone...? Are you serious!? Dude, I just put on a flowmaster dual system last weekend in my truck, a 97 with a 5.4 and it sucks! It has the 50 series SUV muffler with dual outs and it sounds quieter than stock! This muffler has no noise whatsoever! You must have an exhaust leak somewhere because my system sucks. I was expecting some tone over stock but got none. And your power increases you speak of... WHAT!? I think I gained nothing and even lost some MPG. So just yesterday I bought myself a magnaflow system and some high flow magnaflow cats, that outta do her!

I think both of you are full of shyte. Flowmasters will NOT increase your horsepower and torque and they DO sound good when you first put them on.

X2, mine sounds great! But I doubt if there was any performance gain at all.

BTW tbizzle, I looked for you at the track, I was in section PL 446, row 28, seat 11. Was a great race.

50 series SUV muffler with dual outs and it sounds quieter than stock! ARE YOU SERIOUS? the muffler isn't made to be that loud. you shouldve gone with 40 series if you wanted loud. all i know is i like my truck and the way it sounds.

WERD!....just had the same thing installed last thursday and I love it. Any gains were minimal, but I wanted some sound to my truck. My muffler shop didnt even sell the 50 series, just the 40 so I didnt have a choice.

The 50 series in a SI/DO sounds noticably louder than stock... One of the best sounding exhausts I've heard on the mod. motors.

Smooth and deep with a burbly idle.

You may not hear it as much sitting in the truck, thats how its designed. Its design was created for the purpose of noise outside, not inside, hence the deltaflow technology. If you want loud, then ante up to the 40 series or a race muffler like a 1 chamber.

As for a 30% gain, well, we all know I am the flowmaster believer of the board, through hell and highwater, but even I will tell you that 30% is pure and simple horse*****. If you could get 30% off of a simple exhaust, there wouldn't be a car on the road without one. I have never agreed with the loss of torque from such, but I have no raw data to show it so I can't really negate it, as most can't prove it.

The bottom line is, the flowmaster 40 is the single best sounding muffler on the market bar none.

I have had three different trucks with flows on them.

1976 F150 rebuilt 360 with two 40s dumped behind the cab. No cats obviously. Way loud. Sets off alarms at idle.

1990 GMC 350 4x4 with si/do 40 deltaflow. Not too loud but a nice tone.

2000 f150 4x4 5.4 with two si/so 40s exiting in front of passenger tire. Pretty loud and throaty for a truck with Cats.

THey all got louder after they had been on for a while and all of them performed well. Added a little performance and MPG (as long as I stayed out of the gas)

I wont put anything else on my trucks.

I had a 40 series si/do flowmaster put on my 5.4 and gotta say that I like it! I've used the same system on a 91 GMC and it was a bit louder than the Ford.
The 4 pack of cats do quiet things down a bit, but I am impressed with the sound. I'm dang sure that the 30% hp increase is a pack of lies though.

I had a 40 series on a 4.0L explorer a few years ago and it would set off alarms. Had a gutted cat as well, man it was fun. Was at college at Georgia Southern and I would get drunk, (not stupid drunk, just intoxicated) and zoom back and forth down the parking lot isles in the middle of the night setting off alarms. You shoulda seen all the people coming out in their underwear
