newbie header ?

Hello. My brother has a 97 w/ a 4.6. He spent some $$$ from tax return on a set of Summit Headers and exhaust (1 3" pipe----> muffler----->2 pipes). We are going to be installing this over Easter. My questions are:

1. Will the 3" exhaust adversly affect his backpressure? I thought not, since it's only 1 pipe between the y-pipe and the muffler, but I'd like some feedback from someone more experienced wtih the F-150.

2. Are there any helpful tips/tricks to doing this? I know it's a long job, but anything that can help would be appreciated. I saw and read the links provided, I'm looking for the stuff that may not be as obvious.

Sorry for the newbie questions. Thanks for your help.
Scott
