Cheapest/Easiest way to get louder???

First off I dont know anything about exhaust systems but I wouldn't mind it if my truck had a little deeper growl than the stock exhaust setup. What is the cheapest way to get a little deeper sound? I saw a truck the other day that had a tip on it and it looked like that was all and it sounded a lot louder, can a tip alone give you a deeper/louder sound? Thanks.

For my money the Flowmaster 40 Series (standard) produces the best sound. I am on my second muffler on my truck. They sound great.

Great, is that all I would need to buy is the muffler? Is there anything else I would need at all? What about the tips....any info on that?

I am almost positive on this one, but someone can chime in. Longer tips will give you a deep rumble.

Flowmaster mufflers

HAWG

I have the muffler installed with a 3 inch inlet and dual 2 1/2 outlets. I have had duals run from the muffler to the back. I don't know anything about the different tips. I live in Indiana where salt is the rule for the winter season, so I have not had chrome tips installed. I just paint the pipes black and they continue to look great. I think you will be satisfied with the sound of the 40 series standard muffler. Go to the Flowmaster website and read the desriptions for the different models within the 40 series lineup. The standard is listed as the most aggressive sounding in that series, but I will tell you it is not obnoxious sounding like some of the mufflers I hear on trucks.

The cheapest way to get exhaust louder is to pay an independent exhaust shop $25 to remove the OEM muffler and repalce it with a straight pipe. it will sound juts as godo (or bad) as a baffle designed muffler.

Awesome!! Well that sure is cheap, is there any drawbacks to doing that, taking the muffler off?

Straight pipe roar.....is it bothersome in the cab?

For $30 muffler shop said they'd take off the muffler and use the stock tailpipe, I've got the 5.4 is that gonna sound alright? To run duals back said it would be around $130.

straight pipes

Some jurisdictions do not allow straight pipes. If stopped the ticket would/could cost more than the flowmaster muffler.

The cheapest way to make your truck loader is to get a sawzall and cut you exhaust off in front off your muffler. It will cost 3 bucks for a blade
