Gibson SISO....two thumbs up

I had my new Gibson SISO installed this weekend. I would have done it myself, but the stock muffler system wasn't coming out...took three guys at the local muffler shop, one with a blow torch and two more pulling it off.

The Gibson has a great sound. Nice quiet low rumble at idle and hardly a sound when cruizing down the freeway. Step on it and you'll hear a lovely V8 coming out the back. The Gibson and my Airaid intake compliment each other nicely.

If people want to purchase a cat-back system that won't put too much noise in the cabin, I recommend the Gibson.

I'm hitting the dyno on Friday to see if I got any gains from my two mods. My butt meter isn't telling me much, so I'm hoping I got something for my money.

Are you still wanting to do the group dyno day in Kirkland when you get your Xcal 2? I replied to your post but haven't heard anything. I got about 5 or 6 weeks to get my dyno results back to Troyer. Sounds like you frequent the Dyno quite a bit. Are those guys pretty cool at Carb Connection?

CraigH,

Sorry I didn't get back to you about the dyno day. I kind of forgot about it since you were the only one that sounded interested. I wouldn't wait for me...doesn't sound like there are enough people to get a group together.

I've only done one baseline so far, this will be my second one on Friday and then I'm hoping to get one when my Troyer shows up.

The guys down at Carb Connection are "fine"...I didn't get a bad vibe from them, but I also didn't walk out wanting to do all of my business there. When you have a bunch of rice rockets and race-modified BMW's in the shop I can see how a F-150 can look pretty boring.

My appointment is at 3:00 this Friday if you want to come watch....

Cool. I might just do that. Congrats on the Gibson by the way. I had one on my old truck. It looked like a giant beer can

I had a Gibson about 4 years ago.... It was a great improvement over the stock garbage can muffler that's for sure.

I did like the Gibson, but then a baffle busted loose inside after about a year and it rattled really bad. Replaced it with a Flo-Pro brand muffler and have not looked back since! I did keep the nice 3" mandrel bent Gibson tailpipe and SS tip!

Here is a pic of the inside of a Flo-Pro.... It's a bit 'louder' then the Gibson, but no drone at all, even towing the trailer.

Here is what the Flo-Pro looks like after 4 years and about 75,000 miles later!

Yeah, the underside is not pretty, but that's 155,000 miles right there!!
