Flowmaster Too Quiet

I have posted on this subject a while ago when i first started hearing a lot about IMCO and right after I got my Flowmaster.I have a 2002 F-150 with the 5.4. I have a K&N intake and have a SI/DO 40 series. It is not the Delta Flow and it is just not loud enough for me. I want very deep loud aggresive tone. I like the way the 05-06 4.6 sounds on the IMCO website. Is it possibe to make my 5.4 sound like that. I have heard that the 5.4 is hard to make loud but that is just not acceptable in my mind. Any suggestions on brand and setup would be most appreciated.

If the Flowmaster 40 is not loud enough, I don't know what to tell you other that straight pipes. Or go true duals with 2 40's. Anything "louder" than the 40 and you are going to loose low end torque. Flowmaster does make some race mufflers, but not sure of the legal considerations in your state.

So are you guys saying that the IMCO would be very similar to the Flowmaster or would it be worth the money to interchange the IMCO with the Flowmaster?

Thanks for all the inputs. I think I am going to just leave it alone and make some different mods to try and get some more power. I do not see a reason to take off a exhaust that has nothing wrong with it except the loudness if i am not going to get a very noticable difference.

Like you, I used to have a Flowmaster 40 series SI/DO on my old truck (97 F150 w/ 5.4). On my newer truck (99 F150 5.4) I went with a true dual set up. Scrapped the cats and everything back from them. Magnaflow high-flow cats, x-pipe, and two Flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber SI/SO. 2.5 inch tubing. IMO the truck sounds good (more deep and powerful than loud, but still pretty loud). You coulod just run straight pipes or even open headers and it would be louder in the noise aspect.

Check out the Flowmaster 1 chamber muffler line. You won't get the choice of SI/DO, they are just SI/SO but that are super loud.

98Navi, are you refering to the 10 series? I have read a little about them and they sound like they would be very loud. Do you know if they can be run on 150's or if they are more for racing?

Yeah I have the Orginal 40 si/do.. It's loud.. but I'm thinking I'm gonna switch to straight pipes sometime.. I want a little louder! Straight pipes is like the only way to be louder than the 40 series..

If you want a deeper louder sound it's simple. Since you have an air intake replace your factory headers with some JBA shorty headers that will give you loudness then replace the factory cats with highflows and lose the second set of cats then go with true dulls with and H pipe or an X pipe then your exauhst should be plenty loud and plenty deep for your liking if not lose the flows and go with straight pipe but you need to be careful not to burn up your valves.
Also if you will cut the exausht short and end it with the mufflers right past the cab it will greatly effect the loudness level I am running my flow si/do without tail pipes and it is a lot louder then it was when I had tail pipes. I am putting tail pipes back on it because I lost my MPG no lose in power just fuel economy. I can however drive through a paking lot and set off car alarms
