Need to make some noise

I just recently got a 2001 f150 Supercrew and the first thing I'm looking to get is an exhaust. I want something louder than most, especially my dad's f250 V10. I have the 5.4L V8 with no other mods to it. After checking on past threads on this topic it seems like the Gibson Super truck is the best? Any info on this will be greatly appreciated.

No, Gibson is very quiet. You don't want a Gibson. Most people on the forum use Magnaflow or Flowmaster. I would listen to both and then make your decision. For pure volume I would go with either the shortest Magnaflow (14" length), a 40 Series Flowmaster or the 1-chamber IMCO Extreme. The IMCO sounds pretty similar to a Flowmaster. So go down to your local exhaust shop and listen to a Magnaflow and a Flowmaster and decide which one you like more.

If you're not scared of some real sound from your 5.4, do this:

True dual 2.5" pipe, leaving your stock converters in place, straight pipes (no mufflers)
I know a buddy who has this exact setup and you can hear his truck across town...it's loud. I have true dual 2" no mufflers on my 4.6 and it is plenty loud.

This is a cheap setup too because you don't need to buy costly mufflers. My setup w/ tips was $170 bucks. If it's too loud, simply buy a set of mufflers and weld them in.

2.5" straight pipe on your 5.4 will be loud...try it and see...if you're not scared

And if you’re really, really not scared do this:

Cut the pipe just before the catalytic converter,
Yea, that’s about it.

Good Luck

I run a Magnaflow catback system on my 2004 5.4 F-150. It is a single inlet, dual outlet muffler. I have 4"x18" tips on it and it sounds very nice. It isn't that loud at lower RPMs, but it has a nice deep tone to it. Get on the gas and you can really hear it. Noise inside the cab isn't bad, it drones just a little, but not bad at all. It's louder than a friend's 94 F150 with a 5.0 liter and just straight pipes after the cats. I am very satisfied with it.
