Exhaust Question

I just recently bought a 1999 F-150 XL Sport...its a 6-cylinder with a 4.2 Liter Engine. I was just wondering if anywone would know how my truck would sound with some flowmasters? Any recommendations to what type to get? I am new to the truck world, and so far im loving it...any recommendations would be helpful..

I would not reccomend a Flowmaster on your 4.2L. My girlfriend bought a 2002 F150 4.2 that the previous owner had put a 50 Series Flowmaster on. The exhaust was not deep at all. It sounded thin and ricey, and had a lot of midrange buzz to it. I replaced the Flowmaster with a Magnaflow 18" muffler and the truck sounds a lot better. The Magnaflow has a smooth deep tone even with the V6. She picked up a good amount of low end too from the muffler swap. I would reccomend a Magnaflow.

i know a guy at work who has the 4.2 and a flowmaster 40 2 chamber and it sounds like hes got a big V8 under there, for months i thought he had the 5.4, before he started asking me about go fast goodies, the 40 2 chamber i know for a fact sounds awsome deep rumble not ricey at all, flowmaster is the most popular exuast in the US for a reason
