New Exhaust / other changes

Hey whats up? Im lookin for some help with some one with a little experience ...
I just got a 1999 F-150 Lariat SuperCab and was wondering what the best Exhaust system to get is (preferable Dual) and when I decide to do some other things to it what should I look to do first?

Thanks

I would look into Magnaflow exhaust systems for performance. Then I would do: 1)exhaust 2)Intake 3)XCAL 2 or any other programmer 4)elec. fans 5)underdrive pulleys 6)gears - 4:10's 7) higher speed rated tires

I have the lightning style Magnaflow cat-back system on mine...si/do muffler +tips exiting right before the passenger tire...

I had a Magnaflow cat-back system on my 99 5.4 and am about to order one for my recently aquired 02 5.4. Part number for is 15749.

Magnaflow's cat-back systems come with 3" pipe from the cat to the muffler, then dual 2.5 " pipe from the muffler back. All pipe is T-304 stainless and is mandrel bent. The muffler is polished and the kit includes two 3.5" slash-cut polished stainless tips.

Magnaflow wants something like $600 fro the system on there website. The best place to buy one, though is through hottexhaust.com and use coupon code fordtruck8. Total comes to about $390. I'll dig up some pictures and post them later.

Some guys like the Flowmaster, some like Magnaflow. Flowmaster makes a cat-back kit for our trucks as well, but people don't use it very often because it doesn't come with the muffler most guys want. Plus, it doesn't have the fit/finish of the Magnaflow, nor is it Stainless with a polished muffler. If you want to go Flowmaster, you'll probably need to have a muffler shop do the work. I don't like that aproach, though. Most muffler shops will use small-diameter crush-bent aluminized pipe with sloppy welds and it will look hacked-together and sloppy in general. In addition, I don't like the way Flowmaster sounds. They have a whinier sound (like a V10 IMO), although they are louder, which I do like. The Magnaflow will be pretty subtle at first, but will sound louder once you get some miles on it. It always has a better tone to it, though. Again, just my opinion here.

As for the pictures, here are several links to pictures in my gallery here. The first one isn't a close-up, but you can see the tips from the side. The second picture should be a close-up of the tips. They are 3.5".

Check out Magnaflow's website for sound clips. They don't have a clip of the 15749, though. The closet thing they have is the Expedition clip. The sound is similar, though. Here is the link:

I put it on myself in about 2 hours. Several tips I have:

-Cut the old exhaust just behind the muffler and take it off in two pieces.

-It can be a pain to initially get the first section of old exhaust to slide off. Use a big hammer.

-If you have the factory class III reciever hitch, you'll need to remove one bolt on the driver side and replace it with the threaded hanger for the left tailpipe.
