Is it even possible to run true dual exhaust from a 00' v6? i already have a flowmaster 40 on it but i want it to be louder, how big of a difference (in sound) would it make?

 

yes.. cut the Y out get a mid pipe.. and another muffler and more exhaust pipe..

 

Mufflers reduce sound. Adding a second muffler won't make it louder.

 

I have no clue but I would really like to know because Im getting my exhaust done on Monday. A lot of people I've talked to said instead of getting a single SI/DO muffler to get two SI/SO mufflers and it'll be much louder. I need to find out before I make the wrong choice.

 

Thumper, I believe you're going with the Super 40s? 1 muffler or 2 will not make any difference. It will probably be about the same volume. Maybe a little quieter and deeper with 2 mufflers. So, if you don't need the true duals save yourself the cash and go SI/DO.

 

i have a 97 f150 and I just got new flowmaster dual exhaust. i asked the shop how I could make it louder and the mechanic told me that he could remove one of the cats (still keeping it legal) and it would make it louder.
