Newbie Question

Hello, Recently bought by first F150 a 02 KingRanch. I'm looking into mods right now, and am thinking about a new exaust. Will a complete exaust with straight pipes improve effenicy as well as the sound? I def. want that deep almost grumble sound. Any ideas?

Thanks, Kevin

all I got is a flowmaster on mine, it sounds good but I'm gonna give IMCO mufflers a shot. I dont know if you want straight pipes....that would probably be more obnoxious than soundin' good. It just depends on how loud you want it and how much $$$ your willing to throw...i've heard many a time on this forum that these mod motors arent as loud as the dodges and chebbies, since you want a deep grumble sound try a flowmaster first. I like it to keep it simple on my truck, but I'm sure you'll get some different replies...

HMM, you will definately get different opinions.
What size engine do you have, is it 2wd or 4wd?
How much are you willing to spend?

You can easily stay under that with a flowmaster system. Check summit racing, I believe they are anywhere from 299 to 499 there. Get the 40 series muffler for loudest sound!

Define "complete exhaust"
There is no way you will stay under $500 doing a complete exhaust.

If you are looking for a cat-back, then yes you can stay under $500.
I have had Flowmasters and Magnaflows, personally I like the sound and performance of Magnaflows better.
I would suggest you find some sound clips to hear each of them.

I built my exhuast, keeping only the stock manifolds, all the way back dual 3 inch and had approximately $350 in it. It is more than possible to do it all for under $500, you just have to trade this for that, and find someone who wants something you have or can provide to do the work!

So will a cat-back Flowmaster system improve fuel economy also? Is there a big difference in going with straight pipes?
