I have an 03 f150 5.4 with an Imco Extreme 1 chamber SI/SO muffler into a y out the rear, that I just had installed, and so far I'm not impressed. This setup is no louder than the glass pack the Imco replaced . The Imco may have a slightly deeper tone but as far it being as loud as some have claimed, I'm not so sure. I've read here that it may get louder with time and I sure hope so, Can anyone tell me if they've had the same experience with the Imco?

 

It (nothing) doesn't get much louder than a glasspack bro, unless you want to run headers or something.

 

a short glass pack or straight pipes nothing will get much louder at least a muffler, sorry you are disapointed

 

Both the glasspack and the imco are hardly audible at idle , the only difference is the imco has more agressive tone at higher rpms.I love the way a flowmaster sounds even at low rpms but the interior resonance is really more than I want these days. On my previous 97 f150 I ran a set of JBA headers with true duals and glasspacks, so I know the challenges of making a f150 as loud as some of the other makes. On a Dodge or Chevy all you need to sound obnoxiously loud is a muffler , what gives with the Fords????

 

I heard it was something to do with the overall engine design. I know what you mean, old dodge rams with flows sound like a machine gun on full throttle.

03silvercrew, u have a 5.4, lots of guys on the board who are talking about imco are running the 4.6L v8. the 4.6 is much louder than the 5.4 in all aplications. keep it ford
