Re-do exhaust???

I have been thinking about re-doing my exhaust if i ever get a chance. Currently i have an 01 5.4l triton with flowmaster 40 series with 3 x 18 inch tips straight out the back. The tips are starting to get kinda rusty and yucky looking, and i kind of want something a little bit louder, like i would like for it to be noticeable at idle. It doesnt matter if i have to re-do the whole thing, i might make it a long term project if i cant afford everything at once. I want to add an AF1 maybe around christmas time, but what kinda of muffler/pipes/tips would be the loudest to run? also would some new cats or high flow cats make a difference in the sound? Also i am leaning toward 45 degree tips.

If you reccomend something could you please post a link to the product, I am still fairly new to modding my truck.

Ok im leaning towards the IMCO extreme SIDO, with angled 3.5 x 12 stainless tips. But what about the cats, how do you find out if its legal to take them off or not?

chances are if they came with cats it's illegal to take them off, it also depends on the state you live in, call your local smog shop to find out.

you could also check out http://www.bbexhaust.com/New/auto-fl...page=f150.html they have the sound clip so check it out, I love mine.

That clip sounds nice, but i really prefer slash cut tips. Would it be possible to run duals and exit the tips on both sides before the wheel? Also it seems easier to just buy the IMCO for like 50 bucks on ebay, then maybe 80 to 100 on the two tips and get a muffler shop to do the welding and tubes.

Still any input on like some highflow magnaflow cats, or similar product, as far as sound and performance are conscerned?

You can mess w/ the cats if your truck is 5 yrs or older or after 50,000 miles, legally that is.

i got straight pipes now, no cats and no muffler with 6 inch tips ! 2 and a half inch piping all the way back, it is very loud and i have been pulled over 3 times for it all ready ! great sounding but i am installing a pypes violater muffler soon to regain some back pressure as my low end torque sucks !

It depends on the state! And usually, if it came with cats, it must have cats on it no matter what. The best route would be to go with 2 hiflo cats.
